GEORGETOWN — Guyana's ongoing police digitisation programme could allow authorities to track calls that go unanswered at police stations, Home Affairs Minister Oneidge Walrond has said.

Walrond described the proposed capability during an appearance on the *Starting Point* podcast, according to a News Room report published on October 5.

She said the technology is expected to record incoming calls and identify when they are not answered, giving authorities data to examine complaints from people who say they have been unable to reach police stations.

The monitoring is being discussed as part of a wider effort to use technology and data in policing and strengthen accountability within the Guyana Police Force.

Walrond also linked the broader digitisation programme to a more intelligence-led and preventative approach to policing.

No rollout date, list of participating stations or details on how unanswered-call data would be reviewed were identified in the material reviewed by BROWNY TIMES.

The proposal therefore indicates a planned monitoring capability rather than a system shown to be operating across police stations or evidence of improved response times.
