Guyana passport applications move to online appointment system

Applicants can begin the process online, but an office visit remains part of passport processing.

GEORGETOWN — Guyana's passport application process has moved to an online appointment system, requiring applicants to begin the process digitally before visiting a passport office.

The official Passport Application and Appointment System is available at pp.gpf.gov.gy, where users can create an account, begin an application and schedule an appointment.

The government announced that from October 1 applicants would be required to secure an online appointment before visiting a passport office, ending the previous walk-in arrangement.

The change is intended to organise appointments and reduce congestion at passport offices, but it does not make the entire passport process remote.

Applicants are still required to attend the relevant passport office for in-person steps associated with processing their application. Those requirements can vary depending on whether the application is for a first passport, renewal, replacement passport or a child. Applicants should therefore check the documentation and instructions that apply to their specific case before attending an appointment.

The online system also separates the application and appointment stage from the final decision on a passport. Securing an appointment does not mean an application has been approved or that a passport has been issued.

For applicants, the practical change is straightforward: the process now starts online rather than at the passport office.

People planning to apply should use the official Guyana Police Force passport portal and confirm current requirements before their scheduled visit.
