GEORGETOWN - A renewed air services agreement between Guyana and France has opened the way for expanded air links with French Guiana, including a proposed nonstop Trans Guyana Airways service between Georgetown and Cayenne.

Guyana's Minister of Public Utilities and Aviation Deodat Indar and French Ambassador Olivier Plançon signed the agreement on Sep 30, 2026. The updated framework replaces an air services arrangement first established in 1976 and covers airline authorisations, operational rights, commercial cooperation, tariffs, safety and security.

Trans Guyana Airways has begun administrative and regulatory preparations for at least two weekly nonstop flights between Georgetown and Cayenne, according to News Room, citing the airline. The proposed service remains subject to the necessary operating approvals.

TGA has also pointed to potential onward travel opportunities through airlines serving French Guiana. That does not yet establish a confirmed codeshare or protected connecting itinerary.

The next milestones for travellers will be the granting of operating approvals, a confirmed launch date, timetable, fares and opening of ticket sales.
