The proposed market is divided into three lots, with bids due for opening on October 20.
GEORGETOWN — Guyana's Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development has invited eligible contractors to bid for the construction of a new Bush Lot Market in Region Two.
According to information published by the Department of Public Information on October 2, the project is divided into three lots, with bids scheduled to be opened at 9:00 a.m. on October 20.
Bidding documents can be examined before purchase at the ministry's Accounts Department on Fort Street, Kingston. DPI reported that the documents carry a non-refundable fee of GY$3,000.
Bids are to be submitted to the Chairman of the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board at the Ministry of Finance, Main and Urquhart Streets, Georgetown. Late submissions will be rejected, according to the published notice, and bids are required to remain valid for 120 days from the date of opening.
The government says the new market is intended to provide more organised and suitable facilities for vendors and shoppers. Those are expected outcomes of the proposed development; construction has not yet been awarded or completed.
The government has also announced invitations for new markets at Soesdyke Junction in Region Four, as well as Skeldon and Port Mourant in Region Six.
Contractors considering a bid should check the official bidding documents and any subsequent amendments issued by the procuring authority before submitting a proposal.
